A proposed new reservoir in the Cambridgeshire Fens
Anglian Water and Cambridge Water are progressing plans for a new reservoir in the Fens that would help meet the region’s future water supply needs.
The new reservoir is at the heart of a whole new water supply project and will secure a reliable water supply for generations to come.

We understand that our proposals will have an effect on landowners, homeowners, and nearby communities, and are committed to working with everyone as the project develops.
Involving communities and stakeholders is a key part of how we're developing the project.
In our phase three consultation, which took place from 15 October to 10 December 2025, we invited people to provide their comments on our updated plans for the reservoir, and the infrastructure we need to fill the reservoir with water, treat it, and supply clean water to homes and businesses.
We also provided some more information about how we're going to deliver the project in a way that minimises potential effects, while making the most of opportunities to deliver benefits for people, place and the environment.
We’ve received really valuable feedback from local people and stakeholders and want to thank everyone for taking part in the consultation.
As we now use these comments to help shape our proposals, we’ve prepared a summary of what people told us and how we’ll be considering this going forwards.
